JESSE SKY

My medium is light and weight. My mandalas, composed of wood, gypsum, and soon marble, utilize color and form to bend the light that reaches the eyes of the beholder. They create a visual anchor in a space, an architectural flourish, a portal to another place. The objects I make -- the Timelesspiece watch and the SkySignet ring -- place weight on the wrist and hand that bears them, reminding the wearer of their own presence.

I think of my work as artifacts of an ancient future, each one offering a glimpse into a world of higher values. My ultimate aim with the mandalas is to overwhelm the visual cortex of the viewer so as to inspire a transcendent state of consciousness within. I follow my intuition. I listen to the whispers of the angels, and I do what they ask of me. I have faith that they guide me toward my highest individuated purpose, and I never look to the works of others for inspiration. This is how truly unique work is made.

I have spent decades learning to endure, to think, to wait, and to fast. The discovery inside the struggle is this: when you stare your demons in the face, unblinking, they shrink away. My inspiration is returning, and I find myself with the energy and just barely enough resources to act on it. The work will never be done. I have neither a goal of retirement nor any intention of letting up.
